India’s Adani Group is expanding its cement business in central India after launching construction of a new cement grinding unit in Guna, Madhya Pradesh, with a total capacity of 4Mta. The project will become the group’s largest investment in the state to date, with total spending exceeding USD 111m.
The project will be implemented in two phases. The first phase provides for commissioning a 5500tpd cement grinding mill by 2028. The new grinding unit will be developed on a 32ha industrial site.
The project will strengthen Adani’s presence in one of India’s largest cement markets. Through its subsidiary ACC, the group already operates the integrated Kymore cement plant in Madhya Pradesh, with clinker production capacity of 3.6Mta and cement grinding capacity of 2.7Mta.
Madhya Pradesh, with a population of around 72 million people, is considered a strategically important region for building materials producers due to ongoing infrastructure and housing development. The launch of the new grinding unit is expected to reinforce Adani’s position in central India and increase cement supplies to the domestic market.
