Angarskcement Completes Modernization of Dust Collection Systems on Two Cement Mills

Angarskcement [Angarsk cement and mining plant] in the Irkutsk region completed the re-equipment of the suction systems of two cement mills. In 2020, bag filters of the Saratov company ‘Sfera’ and Christian Pfeiffer separators will be installed.

The equipment of mill units 1 and 2 is now dismantled. The commissioning of the new system is scheduled for May 2020. Dismantling of old electrostatic precipitators on mill units 6 and 7 began in February. The mills have been working since the 1950s. New electrostatic precipitators were installed in December this year. The mills were upgraded in turns in order to ensure the continuity of the production process.

The first bag filter [FRI-S-0475 produced by Research and Production enterprise ‘Sfera’] was mounted on the mill unit 6 and put into operation in June. According to the technological indicators of the best available technologies, the dust content in exhaust air should not exceed 10 mg per cubic meter. The plant reported that the results of the test run exceeded expectations. One cubic meter of exhaust air contains just 1 mg of dust per cubic meter. The installation of the filter on the mill unit 7 was completed on December 20.

Total costs of modernization amounted to 41 million rubles. Angarskcement spent another 5.6 million rubles on the modular compressor station produced by the Swedish company Atlas Copco, which was installed in October.

“The Angarsk cement and mining plant has already managed to minimize its environmental impact: emissions of harmful substances have been reduced tenfold,” says CEO of Angarskcement Dmitry Kireev.
