Azerbaijani cement producer Akkord Sement reported a YoY increase in cement sales by 20 % in January-April, up to 237,000 tons. Clinker sales grew by 10 % YoY, up to 31,200 tons.
The company plans on exporting clinker to Iraq and Qatar as soon as quarantine is lifted. Akkord Sement is also considering the prospects of exporting clinker to Iran. Now, most of Akkord Sement’s export clinker goes to Georgia. Akkord Sement intends to export 700 tons of clinker to Georgia (up by 30 % YoY).
In January-April of this year, Akkord Sement produced 209,000 tons of cement and 273,000 tons of clinker, making the production growth identical to sales — 20 % and 10 % for cement and clinker accordingly.
In February 2020, Akkord Sement announced the plans to increase its production capacity by 50 %, to 1.5 million tons of cement per year. The company's future plans also include a capacity expansion up to 3 million tpa.
