Krasnoselskstroymaterialy Will Use Refuse Derived Fuel

This September Belarusian Krasnoselskstroymaterialy should finalize the construction of a new RDF unit for the dry clinker production line. The energy-saving project is financed under the state program “Comfortable housing and favorable environment for 2016–2020” in the amount of 19 million Belarusian rubles ($7.8 million).

The project, supervised by the Ministry of Construction and Architecture of the Republic of Belarus, has its primary goal in replacing imported fossil fuels with local renewable ones. Krasnoselskstroymaterialy currently uses imported coal and Belarusian peat as fuels.

Q4 2019 saw the construction of RDF storage facilities at the site. About $4.5 million worth of equipment was ordered in the Czech Republic. Grodno Recycling and Mechanical Sorting Plant will supply the enterprise with RDF.

“The transition to RDF will create an opportunity to reduce the cost of cement production in the future, strengthen the financial and economic situation of the Krasnoselskstroimaterialy enterprise, create additional competitive advantages over manufacturers operating on traditional fossil fuels,” says the head of the energy conservation department of the Ministry of Construction Architecture Sergey Nikitin.

The funding of the project amounted to 11.87 million Belarusian rubles ($4.9 million)  in 2019 and 7.14 million ($2.9 million)  in 2020.

Krasnoselskstroymaterialy is the largest producer of building materials in Belarus with a design capacity of 1.6 million tons per year.
