Azerbaijani Cement Plant Will Almost Double Production Сapacity

Gazakh Cement plant in the Gazakh region of the northwest Azerbaijan intends to increase its design capacity from 1 million to 1.5 million tpa. The modernization is expected to end in the first half of 2020. The company has already ramped up the production of cement, concrete, sand and gravel, and launched the country's first mobile laboratory.

Modernization began in the spring of 2019. In May 2019 the plant signed an EPC [engineering, procurement and construction] contract with a large Turkish company. Modernization began with the installation of a new cooling system. As a result, Gazakh Cement plant already managed to increase clinker production by 7.5%, and cement production by 25%. The plans of Gazakh Cement also include a further increase in the capacity of the enterprise up to 3 million tons per year.

Gazakh Cement — the third most powerful cement company in the country — is owned by Akkord Industry Construction Investment Corporation of Azerbaijan and produces cement using dry process. Gazakh Cement became the first company in the history of the republic to export both cement and clinker.

There is a total of three full-cycle cement plants in the Republic of Azerbaijan with a total design capacity of 3.7 million tons of cement per year, including Gyzildash Cement (Norm Cement) and Holcim Azerbaijan.
