Cement Industry of Uzbekistan Showed 9.4 % YoY Growth in 2019

Enterprises of Uzbekistan produced 10.99 million tons of cement in 2019. This is 9.4 % more than in 2018. Qizilqumsement, Akhangarantsement and Bekabadcement plants were the most productive Uzbek enterprises of 2019. Clinker production in 2019 decreased compared to the previous year, from 6.4 to 6.2 million tons.

Qizilqumsement plant produced 3.64 million tons of cement (+ 1.8 %) and 2.96 million tons of clinker. Akhangarantsement produced 1.9 million tons of cement (+ 4 %) and 1.4 million tons of clinker (+ 0.8 %). Bekabadcement produced 1.2 million tons of cement (+ 3 %) and 1.1 million tons of clinker (- 0.8 %).

Most of the cement in Uzbekistan is sold in bulk. Out of the 8.5 million tons sold through the Uzbek Republican Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange, only 983,000 tons were shipped in packaging. The total value of cement sold in 2019 amounted to 4.1 trillion soums ($ 430 million).

The growth in the production of cement products and building materials is associated with the growth of capital construction. Over 12 million m2 of housing is commissioned in Uzbekistan every year on average.

While cement imports fall by 8 % YoY, cement production in Uzbekistan grows. According to the government, the cement demand in Uzbekistan for 2020 is estimated at 14 million tons.
