Cement Export in Kyrgyzstan in 4M 2020 Down by 69,9 % YoY

In 4M 2020, Kyrgyz enterprises exported 69,200 tons of cement (down by 69.9 % YoY). The monetary value of cement exports amounted to 3.3 million dollars or 245.7 million soms (down by 70.2 % and 68.2 %, respectively).

The Republic of Uzbekistan was the main consumer of Kyrgyz cement, importing 69,100 tons and accounting for 99.9 % of the Kyrgyz cement export. Early July, the government of Uzbekistan instructed the Antimonopoly Committee to develop a program to increase cement imports in order to reduce the market deficit and lower cement prices in the country.

Less than one percent of all Kyrgyz cement exports accounted for by Kazakhstan, where a six-month ban on the import of cement clinker and the main types of cement took effect on April 27.

Cement imports to the Republic of Kyrgyzstan in 4M 2020 increased to 90,200 tons (by 12.7 % YoY). The monetary value of cement import amounted to $ 3.7 million. The leading cement suppliers were the enterprises of Kazakhstan, accounting for 73 % of the total import volume.

The total design capacity of the enterprises of the Kyrgyz Republic reaches 3 million tpa. Last year, the country's plants produced 2 million tons of cement showing a 4 % YoY growth.
