Cement, Lime and Gypsum Production Increased in Belarus in 2020

In 2020, enterprises of the Republic of Belarus produced 4.74 million tons of cement, which is 0.2 % more than in 2019. The volume of cement production in December 2020 amounted to 226,700 tons — 0.5 % less than in December 2019, and 34.9 % less than in November 2020.

The volume of lime production in 2020 increased by 3.8 % YoY, up to 492,600 tons. The volume of lime production in December amounted to 34,700 tons, which is 3.2 % more than in December 2019. The volume of gypsum production in 2020 increased by 50.7 % YoY, up to 102,500 tons. The volume of gypsum production in December amounted to 6,600 tons — 0.3 % less than in December 2019.

The volume of ready-mixed concrete production decreased by 0.1 % in 2020, down to 1.84 million m3. The volume of RMC production in December 2020 amounted to 94,500 m3 — 21.9 % less than in December 2019.

In July, it became known that, in accordance with the decree of the Ministry of Architecture and Construction, came into force in Belarus as part of legislative reforms from September 2020 new building codes. In early November, the country also approved new standards for the protection of concrete structures and reinforced concrete products from corrosion.
