In November 2020, Chinese cement enterprises produced 243.3 million tons of cement — 8.2 % more than in November 2019 and 1 % more than in October 2020. In January-November, the Chinese cement industry produced 2,163.2 million tons of products, which is 1.5 % more than in January-November 2019.
Production indicators for the two months of 2020 were 29.3 % behind the last year's numbers, in January-March — 23.9 %, and in January-July the industry closed the gap to 1.9 % eventually making it back to 2019 production level and surpassing it.
According to the latest data from the National Customs Service of the People's Republic of China, the volume of cement exports in the country in the first ten months of this year decreased by 20.8 % compared to the same period in 2019, down to 2.6 million tons. The export value decreased by 18.5 %, down to US$ 178.6 million.
Against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic, the cement industry in China showed a significant decline in results, and CNBM - the largest cement holding in China - reported a drop in profit for the first quarter by 64.5%.
