According to the results of 12 months of 2020, cement enterprises in China produced 2,376.9 million tons of cement, which is 2 % more than in 2019. In December 2020, the Chinese cement industry produced 213.3 million tons of products, which is 7 % more than in December 2019.
Production indicators for the two months of 2020 were 29.3 % behind the last year's numbers, in January-March — 23.9 %, and in January-July the industry closed the gap to 1.9 % eventually making it back to 2019 production level and surpassing it.
According to the latest data from the National Customs Service of China, the volume of cement exports from the country in 2020 decreased by 43.4 % compared to 2019, down to 3.12 million tons. The export value for the same period decreased by 36.4 % amounting to US$ 220.4 million.
Against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic, the cement industry in China showed a significant decline in results, and CNBM — the largest cement holding in China - reported a drop in profit for the first quarter by 64.5 %.
