Cement Production in Russia Grows by 5.3 % YoY in Q1 2020

Russian enterprises produced a total of 9.85 million tons of cement in Q1 2020, improving YoY results by 5.3 %. Portland cement with mineral additives demonstrated the most significant production growth (11.5 %), reaching a volume of 3.35 million tons.

Production of cement without mineral additives increased by 2.6 % YoY in January-March 2020, up to 5.94 million tons. Slag cement production increased by 9.4 % YoY, up to 246,900 tons. The production of oil well Portland cement in the first quarter decreased by 7 %, down to 230,000 tons. The production of white Portland cement in the country reached 16,140 tons (+ 9.6 % YoY). Production of Alumina types of cement dropped by 54 %, down to 1,380 tons. 

“Other cements” production decreased by 6.7 % as per Federal State Statistics Service, down to 38,400 tons. The production of RMC in Q1 2020 grew by 10 % YoY, up to 7 million m3. Cement consumption in the Russian Federation increased by 5 % YoY in Q1 2020, up to 9.7 million tons.
