Turkmenistan Expects 20 % Increase in Cement Production in 2020

The Government of Turkmenistan expects the country's enterprises to boost cement production in 2020 by 20 %. The growth is tied to the expansion of the product range with cements with mineral additives. Thus, the production of M-400-G20-K cement commenced this year 2020, as per the Ministry of Industry and Construction.

Specialists from the Institute of Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan are developing M-500-G20-K cement with basalt porphyrites. The porphyrites are mined at the Ufra deposit in the Balkan region of Turkmenistan.

This May, the government of Turkmenistan is expected to announce the details of an international tender for the construction of two new production lines at the Lebap and Bakharden cement plants. The commissioning of the new production lines is planned by 2023 or earlier. It will increase a total production capacity of the cement enterprises in the country up to 5.7 million tpa.

Since the beginning of 2020, The Ministry of Industry and Construction has directly managed all cement enterprises in the country.
