Cement Production in Russia in 9M 2020 Down by 4.5 % YoY

In January-September 2020, enterprises of the Russian Federation produced 43.2 million tons of cement (Portland cement, alumina cement, slag cement and similar hydraulic cements), which is 4.5 % less than in January-September 2019. The volume of cement production in September amounted to 5.8 million tons, which is down by 6.7 % YoY and 3.8 % MoM.

Thus, the cement production deficit in Russia decreased by 0.1 % (from 4.6% in January-August).

The volume of ready-mixed concrete production in January-September amounted to 26.8 million m3, which is down by 2.3 % YoY. The September volume is down 3 % YoY and up by 4.3 % MoM.

Production volumes are still behind last year’s numbers, but the industry and the construction sector in the country are gradually recovering. The stimulating factors behind the recovery are the support measures announced by the Russian government. Due to the state support of the industry, the construction sector has attracted extra 1.44 trillion rubles in H1 2020  (14 % YoY).
