Cement Production in Russia in August 2020 up by 1.5 %

In August 2020, enterprises of the Russian Federation produced 6.2 million tons of cement (Portland cement, aluminous cement, slag cement and hydraulic cements), which is up by 1.5 % MoM and down by 0.8 % YoY. In 8M 2020, the volume of cement production decreased by 4.6 % YoY and amounted to 37.4 million tons.

In 7M 2020 the industry showed a 5,6 % decline YoY, indicating a 1 % recovery as of 8M 2020.

The volume of ready-mixed concrete production in January-August amounted to 23 million m3, which is 2.3 % less than in January-August 2019. The August figure is down by 11.5 % MoM and 6.5 % YoY.

Production volumes are still behind last year’s numbers, but the industry and the construction sector in the country are gradually recovering. The stimulating factors behind the recovery are the support measures announced by the Russian government. Due to the state support of the industry, the construction sector has attracted extra 1.44 trillion rubles in H1 2020  (14 % YoY).
