Iran Commissions RMC Plant on Island Near Arabian Sea

A ready-mix concrete plant with a capacity of 51,800 tons per year was commissioned in Iran. The plant was built on the Qeshm island in the Strait of Hormuz, which connects the Persian Gulf and the Arabian Sea. The facility was built with private investment of $ 11.9 million, according to the Islamic Republic of Iran's official news agency.

The island is located in close proximity to the port cities of Khemir and Bander Abbas in the south of mainland Iran. The new facility in Qeshm will also produce concrete structures, parts and I-beams for the construction industry.

The total design capacity of Iranian cement enterprises is about 86 million tons per year. The main importers of Iranian cement are Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Russia and Uzbekistan. The main importers of Iranian clinker are India, Iraq, Kenya, China, Kuwait, UAE, Oman.

In the first half of 2020, the Armenian authorities lifted the ban on the import of Iranian clinker.
