As part of its global Future in Action strategy to reduce CO2 emissions, Cemex announced the start of the plan to incorporate vehicles powered by sustainable energy into its cargo fleet, with the objective that 63 % of new additions until 2025, whether from vehicles mobilized by clean energy.

With the incorporation of the first 12 trucks this year – of which 10 powered by natural gas and 2 with electric energy – it will be possible to reduce approximately 300 tons of CO2 per year per truck, a relevant number if it is estimated that it is equivalent to stop consuming more than 29 thousand gallons of diesel per year or plant 4,950 trees, and maintain them for 10 years.

The use of this new fleet is planned for the transportation of cement and other materials to and from Cemex's main loading nodes in Colombia, and thus serve the company's customers, generating a smaller CO2 footprint every day.

The evolution of the truck fleet is part of Cemex's Future in Action program, focused on achieving sustainable excellence through climate action, circularity and natural resource management, with the main objective of becoming a company from scratch net CO2 emissions by 2050.
