China’s 9M 2020 cement production volumes indicate a YoY decrease of 0,8 %, amounting to 1,676.3 million tons. 8M 2020 results were behind 8M 2019 by 2,1 %. Meanwhile September production volume of 233.4 million tons indicates MoM and YoY growth of 3.8 % and 7.2 % respectively.
Cement production volumes in January-March amounted to 299.1 million tons indicating a YoY decrease of 23.9 %. In January-May the Chinese cement industry recouped 15,7 % showing a YoY decrease in production of 8.2 % and making it to 4.8 % by H1 2020.
Against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic, the cement industry in China took a significant hit before setting its course to a steady recovery. In Q1 2020, CNBM — the largest cement holding in China — reported a drop in net profit of 64.5 % YoY.
