Chinese companies invest in Kazakhstan's projects

The Alatau Invest International Business Forum was held in Kazakhstan. Within the framework of the forum, a memorandum was signed with a major Chinese construction company. It intends to build a new cement plant in Almaty region. The first one was already built in Kyzylorda region. The company will invest up to 220 million dollars in the future plant.

Yang Dan, CEO of China Gezhouba Group Cement Co Ltd: "If everything is in order, we want to put the plant into operation in early 2026. We will create 300 workplaces, and another 500 people will be indirectly employed in our production".

This project is relevant for the Almaty region right now ad a large construction project is expected here. A new city will appear and a special economic zone is already being built around it.

Director of the Regional Development Center of Almaty region Nurlan Amanksiev says: " Nowadays a new Alatau city is under construction, it will be located 68 km from Almaty to the town of Konaev. This project is being carried out with the use of "green" technologies and with the help of Chinese investments. The largest special economic zone of 30 thousand hectares has been created in the region. It is also planned to expand it up to 90 thousand hectares".

Following the results of the forum, 8 memorandums were signed for a total amount of about $475 million. Most projects are to be carried out by investors from China. In addition to the cement plant, in the coming years, the Chinese investments will be used to build enterprises producing electric cars, irrigation systems, agricultural equipment and a logistics hub.
