According to the results of January-February 2021, Georgia imported 19,880 tons of cement from Turkey, which is 64.4 % less than in January-February 2020. The cost of imports for the same period decreased by 62.9 % and amounted to US$ 1.13 million.
Another major import partner of Georgia is Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan exported 65,420 tons of cement to georgia, which is 56.6 % more than in January-February 2020. The cost of import of cement from Azerbaijan increased by 35.3 % and amounted to US$ 2.99 million.
In 2M 2021, Georgia imported a total of 85,300 tons of cement — 23.4 % less than in January-February 2020. The total cost of imports decreased by 31.3 % and amounted to US$ 4.13 million.
In 2020, Georgia imported 326,900 tons of Turkish cement worth US$ 17.5 million. The volume of imports doubled compared to 2019. Apart from Azerbaijan and Turkey the list of top three import partners of Georgia in 2020 also included Iran.
