Indian JSW Cement to Spend $400M to Increase Production Capacity

As reported by The Indian Times on November 27, JSW Cement plan to boost its production capacity up to 25 million tpa, investing around $400 million dollars in its subsidiaries.

According to JSW Cement Managing Director Parth Jindal, this endeavour is a part of a strategy to take on a leading role in India's infrastructure. Revising production capacities is vital to increase the total output to 25 million tpa by 2023. Parth Jindal also noted that the expansion should result in JSW stepping into a top-5 list of cement producers in India.

JSW Cement plans to increase the production capacity:
by 3.6 million tpa in South India, taking its total green cement to 11.6 million tpa.
by 2.4 million tpa in West India (boosting cement capacity to 4.6 million tpa).
by over 5 million in East India, it is adding the largest chunk of production capacities tpa.

JSW Cement produces Portland Slag Cement (PSC), Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC), and Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GGBF). The current production capacity of JSW Cement rests at 14 million tpa. The company plans listing for IPO once it reaches the production mark of 20 million tpa (expected by Dec, 2020). JSW Cement is a part of JSW Group, a 14 billion dollar conglomerate.
