LafargeHolcim Will Invest Over EUR 100 Million in Małogoszcz Plant Modernization

LafargeHolcim will invest over EUR 100 million in the modernization and reconstruction of its Małogoszcz Cement plant in Poland. The modernization will make it possible to increase the technical efficiency of the plant and minimize the environmental impact by reducing CO2 emissions by approximately 20 % per year and reducing energy consumption by about 33 %. Part of the investment will be implemented in cooperation with the Krakow Technology Park as part of the Polish Investment Zone. Works will begin later this year and completion is scheduled for 2023.

The investment, worth over EUR 100 million, is one of the largest in the cement sector in Central and Eastern Europe. By 2030, the entire group of LafargeHolcim will reduce emissions by 20 % compared to 2018. Lafarge's ambition in Poland is to achieve a 55 % reduction compared to 1990. Once completed, it will be one of the most modern cement plants in Europe.

The emission reduction will be possible due to the construction of a modern rotary kiln with a capacity of approximately 4,000 tpd running on alternative fuel (including biomass). This will minimize the share of fossil fuels in production and will be an important element of the circular economy, solving the problem of waste. The plant's energy consumption will decrease by about 33 % and secondary dust emissions will also decrease due to the reconstruction of raw material warehouses and unloading terminals.
