Cement and building materials manufacturer Cahya Mata Sarawak Bhd has started work on a project to build a second clinker production line at the Mambong cement plant. Investments in the project amounted to 673 million MYR (Malaysian ringgit).
The upgrade will help increase cement production capacity in Sarawak State and increase the reliability of its supply. The new clinker line will have a production capacity of up to 6,000 metric tonnes per day. After the line is put into operation, the production capacity of the enterprise will increase from about 900 thousand to 1.9 million tons of clinker per year.
Clinker Line 2 will feature energy-efficient technologies, including a Waste Heat Recovery System generating up to six megawatts and advanced dust filtration systems. Construction is expected to take approximately two years, with commissioning targeted for the second quarter of 2027.
