Podolsk-Cement Develops Expanding Additive for Concrete

Podolsk-Cement plant has developed an industrial technology for high-temperature synthesis of expanding additives for special concrete works in construction. Raw materials selected for the additive were locally produced and one of the components used is industrial waste.

Raw slurry is prepared according to the traditional scheme in wet ball mills. The clinker for the manufacture of the additive is calcined in a rotary kiln at a temperature of 1200-1250 °C. Synthesis reactions of expanding minerals take place during solid-phase clinker formation.

The material is produced in the form of granules resistant to humid ambient air. In terms of properties, the expanding additive is not inferior to imported analogues. It is possible to regulate the expansion time in a concrete stone. Recommendations for the use of the additive have been developed for consumers.

Podolsk-Cement, one of the first cement plants in Russia, produced products for the construction of a mining and processing plant in Nikolaevsk-on-Amur, a storage facility for hazardous substances in Tajikistan, the Lefortovo tunnel, a helipad on the territory of the Moscow Kremlin, during the restoration of the Tsaritsyno palace complex, Trinity-Sergius Lavra, Jerusalem Monastery in Zvenigorod and other large objects.
