In October 2020, Ukraine imported 68,900 tons of Turkish cement, which is 59.7 % more than in October 2019. Imports cost in October increased by 53.2 % and amounted to US$ 2.7 million.
In total, for the period of January-October, 891,500 tons of cement were imported to Ukraine from Turkey, which is 7.3 times more than in the same period in 2019. The total cost of imports for the period increased by 7.1 times and amounted to US$ 36.2 million.
The introduction of import duties for Belarusian and Moldovian clinker and cement, along with the ban of Russian cement products on August 1, 2019, boosted the demand for local products. Duties for all goods from Moldova (including cement) were set at 94.46 %, and duties for all goods from Belarus (including cement) were set at 57.03 %. More than 80 % of cement imports are products of Turkish enterprises.
