Cement production at enterprises of Quvasoycement and Akhangarancement was suspended due to a decrease in pressure in the gas pipeline through which fuel is supplied to producers. The reason behind this was the increase in gas consumption by the public sector, forced by a decrease in ambient temperature below zero degrees Celsius.
Thus, the enterprises did not put their cement production on the exchange auction at UZEX. The average daily volume of cement at the last auction amounted to 30,000 tons, which is 34 % lower than the previous auction.
The volume of cement sold amounted to 141,920 tons of cement, which is 32.6 % less than the volume sold at the previous auction. The decrease in volumes influenced the price of cement, which increased from UZS 512.0 to UZS 539.1 for one kilogram of the product.
The number of bidders decreased from 1054 to 817, and the number of buyers decreased from 556 to 373.
Today, 30 specialized enterprises are engaged in the production of cement in Uzbekistan, with the leading producers being Qizilqumsement, Akhangarancement, Quvasoycement, Bekabadcement and Almalyk mining and metallurgical plant. The total design capacity of cement enterprises in Uzbekistan is over 12 million tons of cement per year.
