In January-September 2020, enterprises of the Republic of Uzbekistan produced 9.27 million tons of cement, which is 12.3 % more than in January-September 2019. The volume of clinker production for the same period increased by 8.4 % and amounted to 7.32 million tons. The growth of production is taking place against the background of the implementation of large investment projects with the participation of foreign investments.
Cement consumption in the country in 9M 2020 amounted to 10.53 million tons.
Earlier, Ulugbek Abraev, deputy chairman for investments, exports and economics of the Uzpromstroymaterialy Association, said that Uzbekistan’s cement industry is expected to increase its design capacity by 60 % by the end of 2020.
In 2020-2021, the association plans to build and launch 10 cement plants in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Jizzakh, Kashkadarya, Surkhandarya, Tashkent, Andijan, Fergana and Namangan regions.
Today, 30 specialized enterprises are engaged in the production of cement, among which the largest are Qizilqumsement, Akhangarancement, Kuvasaycement, Bekabadcement and Sherabad Cement Plant.
