President of Turkmenistan Invites Turkish Holding to Build Three Cement Plants

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov invites Çalik Holding company to bid on the construction of the new cement plants in the republic. The president discussed the possibility at the meeting with Chairman of the Board of Çalik Holding Ahmet Çalik. The last cement plant was built six years ago by Polimeks holding company.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov first announced the intention to attract foreign investment to build cement plants in three provinces of Turkmenistan on November 20th. President of Turkmenistan noted that cement is one of the main materials of the construction industry, and the investment climate in the country is now favorable to international companies.

Çalik Holding is already involved in major Turkmenistani projects: the construction of a burn care facility and the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan power line. Future projects of the holding include the International Medical and Aesthetic Center. The government of the republic clearly expressed the preference for Çalik Holding to construct a new metallurgical plant.

Four cement plants are currently operating in Turkmenistan. Three of them belong to the state agency Türkmensenagat, and one belongs to the Turkish Polimeks group. The Lebap plant became the primary producer of exported cement in 2019.

Çalik Holding is headquartered in Istanbul. The holding owns assets in the construction, energy, textile, logistics, financial and media businesses. The largest subsidiaries of the holding are GAP Güneydoğu Tekstil, Çalık Enerji, GAP İnşaat, Çalıkbank, and GAP Pazarlama. In 2018 Çalik Holding scored revenue of 1.9 billion US dollars.
