Examples of RHI Magnesita’s commitment to address carbon emissions include:
- ANKRAL LC: Ankral LC is the company’s low-carbon series of refractory bricks with a 13% reduced carbon footprint that is independently verified;
- Reduction of emissions: RHI Magnesita’s commitment to reduce emissions by 15% by 2025 is the first target of its kind in the whole refractory industry;
- Recycling programme: RHI Magnesita’s recycling programme will include 10% secondary raw materials in refractories by 2025, that not only reduces carbon emissions but also enables the company to build a circular economy;
- Customer support: supporting customers is central to RHI Magnesita. Therefore, working on tailor made solutions to reduce carbon emissions of its customers is of great importance to the company;
- Corporate Sustainability Committee: RHI Magnesita established a committee with the sole purpose to ensure and improve the company’s environmental performance. The Board oversees the work of this Committee.
A record-breaking 9,600+ companies participated in the 2020 CDP climate questionnaire. This is 14 % higher than last year and marks a 70 % increase since the Paris Agreement was signed in 2015.
In 2020, the CDP platform saw requests for company disclosures from more than 500 investors with over US$106 trillion in assets and more than 150 major purchasers accounting for US$4 trillion in procurement spend.
Company scores are based on data reported to the CDP’s annual climate change questionnaire. A detailed and independent methodology assesses companies on comprehensiveness of disclosure, awareness and management of climate risks and environmental leadership, including setting ambitious and meaningful targets.
