Viktor Ushakov, CEO of Association of Concrete Roads, and Roman Novikov, CEO of Federal Road Agency (Rosavtodor) signed a memorandum of cooperation in order to expand the use of cement concrete in the construction, reconstruction and overhaul of public highways of federal significance.
"To increase the service life of road structures, it is necessary to increase their bearing capacity", stressed Viktor Ushakov. Measures for drainage, homogenization and strengthening of the roadbed should be carried out for this purpose.
"The decision on the choice of the type of pavement and pavement should be based on economic calculations and be made taking into account the availability of initial road-building materials, and first of all the binder, the expected composition and intensity of traffic, as well as climatic operating conditions," added Viktor Ushakov.
Roman Novikov noted that it is necessary to conduct a detailed analysis of the market conditions of cement concrete roads, as well as to study domestic and foreign experience in the field of their construction and operation. Also, the head of Rosavtodor called for optimizing the system of measures that would ensure high technological efficiency of work. At the moment, the department is working on the formation of a regulatory and technical framework and updating state standards.
Rosavtodor has already commissioned 50 km of cement-concrete roads. Construction works are being carried out at nine facilities where cement concrete coating is used. The total length is almost 95 km. The Novosibirsk bypass is one of the largest projects.
The document was signed at the I International Scientific and Practical Conference "Construction of high-quality and safe roads using cement concrete and mineral binders", which was held on September 30, 2021 at MADI (Moscow Automobile and Road State Technical University).
