Sibcem’s Krasnoyarsk Cement Purchases New European Electrostatic Precipitator

Sibcem’s Krasnoyarsk Cement plant purchased a new European electrostatic precipitator for its rotary kiln No. 5. The new gas cleaning unit will allow the company to reduce particulate matter emissions to a level defined by the European standards. The new equipment captures up to 99.9 % of pollutants and will replace the Russain electrostatic precipitator EGAV, the efficiency of which is up to 99.6 %. According to preliminary estimates, over 200 million rubles were allocated for the construction of the new electric filter at kiln No. 5. It is planned for commissioning in November 2020.

"The old filter is still capable of providing the degree of air purification that meets the current maximum permissible emissions (MPE) standards, but due to the fact that the requirements for industrial enterprises are constantly increasing, we decided to play ahead and install a more progressive model," emphasizes the Director of Krasnoyarsk Cement Vladimir Afanasin.

Preparations for the implementation of this investment project began in the fall of 2019. Due to the restrictions introduced by the COVID-19 pandemic, the equipment manufacturer’s specialists monitored the progress of the work remotely: all approvals were carried out using photographs and video reports. A specialist of the manufacturer's company will soon arrive at the enterprise to carry out commissioning.

In total, Krasnoyarsk Cement operates 52 gas cleaning units. The efficiency of their work (from 99.6 % to 99.9 %) is ensured through timely revisions, repairs and replacement of individual elements. The company also has its own accredited laboratory that monitors the quality of industrial emissions, air quality and the production environment. In 2019, the lab was included in the register of the Federal Accreditation Service.
