According to Soyuzcement, in January-February 2021, the volume of cement production in Russia decreased by 9.7%, to 5 million tons compared to the same period in 2020. Cement consumption decreased by 13.2% to 4.9 million tons; the expected figure for March (4.0 million tons) is 6.0% lower than in 2020.
With predicted growth of 3% by the Government of the Russian Federation in the construction industry in 2021, the cement market may grow by 5% or more in comparison with the level of 2020.
In January-March 2021, the volume of railway transportation of cement in the country decreased in relation to the indicator for January-March 2020 by 3.3%, to 4,642 thousand tons.
The volume of work performed in construction in January-February 2021 was 0.1% higher than the level of previous year and reached 939.2 billion rubles. The indicator of housing commissioning increased in relation to January-February 2020 by 13.0%, to 11.2 million m2 in total area.
