Taiheiyo Cement begins cement exports from Indonesia to the U.S.

Japan’s Taiheiyo Cement Corporation has begun supplying cement from Indonesia to the United States through SBI, a company in which it holds an equity stake. The first shipment was sent to Taiheiyo Cement’s U.S. subsidiary on June 1, 2026.

The project is being implemented under a capital and business alliance concluded in 2021 between Taiheiyo Cement, Indonesian state-owned cement company SIG, and its subsidiary SBI. The agreement included the development of export infrastructure at SBI’s Tuban plant, including a loading jetty and silos.

The launch of exports will allow Taiheiyo Cement to secure stable cement supplies of more than 500,000 tons per year for its U.S. operations. The company expects the new logistics hub to strengthen its network across the Pacific Rim and enhance its competitiveness in the U.S. market, where demand is expected to continue growing.

Taiheiyo Cement is also considering the production of blended cement jointly with SBI for supply to the U.S. market. The company links this initiative to growing demand for low-carbon cement in the United States and plans to leverage SBI’s manufacturing technologies.

Taiheiyo Cement said it will continue to strengthen its position in Southeast Asia and expand supplies of cement and other products in line with local needs.
