Minister of Industry and Construction of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yersayin Nagaspayev discussed prospects for cooperation in investment, industrial collaboration, and technology with Stefan Rouenhoff, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy of Germany.
The parties noted the strong momentum in trade and economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and Germany. Last year, the inflow of German direct investment into Kazakhstan’s economy increased by 28.5 %. Over the past 20 years, the total volume of foreign direct investment (FDI) has exceeded USD 7.8 billion, with approximately 90 % directed to the manufacturing sector.
“German investments are of strategic importance to us and are supported at the level of the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Kemeluly Tokayev. Regular visits by the heads of state and active high-level contacts have given a significant boost to the development of friendly and partnership ties. We are ready to comprehensively strengthen our relations and provide the necessary support to investors,” Yersayin Nagaspayev emphasized.
Stefan Rouenhoff, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy of Germany, highlighted the strong interest of German businesses in industrial cooperation with Kazakh partners.
Kazakhstan’s industrial cooperation portfolio with Germany includes 41 investment projects expected to create 7,000 jobs, 20 of which have already been launched. These include cement production facilities operated by Heidelberg Materials and several other projects. Joint projects for the production of potash fertilizers, lithium, and other products are currently under implementation.
Participants in the meeting also noted the potential for cooperation in the exploration and processing of rare earth and critical raw materials, as well as in the localization of production and the launch of industrial projects.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to promote the further deepening of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.
