CEMEX announced that the U.S. Department of Energy awarded US$3.2 million to Solar MEAD, a joint project headed by CEMEX, Sandia National Laboratories, and Synhelion, which aims to decarbonize cement production.

Holcim has signed an agreement to acquire FDT Flachdach Technologie GmbH (FDT), a leading manufacturer of thermoplastic roofs with a strong presence in fast-growing European markets with 2022 net sales of EUR 50 million. As a technology and sustainability leader in its sector, FDT will complement Holcim’s integrated roofing offer and strengthen the geographical footprint of the business. With this acquisition, Holcim roofing systems will exceed USD 4 billion in net sales ahead of schedule.

CEMEX announced double-digit top-line growth for 2022 and 4th quarter driven by a robust pricing strategy designed to recover margins. For 2022, EBITDA and EBITDA margin showed improving trends in 4th quarter. CO2 emissions declined by ~4.6% in 2022, the second consecutive year of record carbon reductions.

For 12 months, Krasnoyarsk Cement (Sibcem Holding) produced 634.8 thousand tons and sold 633.4 thousand tons of products. The company's assortment includes ten types of cement: six general construction and four specials.

Holcim has signed an agreement to acquire Duro-Last, a US leader in commercial roofing systems, with pro forma net sales of USD 540 million. Duro-Last has a track record of double-digit growth in North America’s highly profitable USD >40 billion roofing market, driven by leading brands, proprietary technologies and custom-made solutions. Duro-Last’s systems will complement and strengthen Holcim’s integrated roofing offer, with expected synergies of USD 60 million per year.

Heidelberg Materials acquires SER Group, a leading integrated company in the demolition and construction materials recycling business, based in Heilbronn, Southern Germany. With an annual revenue of around €50 million and three modern recycling sites, SER Group is the market leader in the greater Heilbronn area and employs more than 220 people. The acquisition comes shortly after the take-over of Berlin-based RWG Holding GmbH in November 2022 and highlights Heidelberg Materials’ focus on enhancing its circular economy activities.

In 12 months, the plant produced 0.8 million tons of cement – 2 % more than in 2021. The company produced, in particular, 0.5 million tons of CEM I 42.5N and 0.1 million tons of CEM II/A-G 32.5B. These types of products proved to be the most in demand on the market last year.
