Asia Cement has won recognition globally with its systematic strategic deployment which actively promotes greenhouse gas reduction and the development of a sustainable green economy. On June 30th, Asia Cement has once again won the “Green Leadership Award” of  the 2023 Asia Responsible Enterprise Awards, making them not only the cement company with the most awards but also standing out for the third time in the “Green Leadership” category.

The maximum retail price of locally-manufactured cement will be reduced from Rs. 2,600 to Rs. 2,300 per 50kg bag with effect from today (July 06).
Cement despatches in Pakistan faced a significant setback in June 2023, with a decline of 22.8%. This decline has raised concerns about the state of the cement industry and its potential impact on the country’s economy. Data released by the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA) revealed that total cement despatches in June 2023 were 4.063 million tonnes, compared to 5.264 million tonnes in the same period the previous year.

Serebryansky Cement Plant has successfully completed a joint project with Gazprom Mezhregiongaz LLC on connecting to gas networks. Thanks to the plant's gasification, CO2 emissions will be reduced by 15-17 %, electricity consumption – by 4.2 % and the risk of work-related illnesses – by 14 %.

Holcim, EDF, IFPEN ("Institut Français du Pétrole et des Energies Nouvelles") and Axens are joining forces to develop e-kerosene that will contribute to decarbonize France’s aviation industry. Holcim will join “Take Kair” project with its cement plant in Saint-Pierre-La-Cour, where it will capture biogenic CO2; IPFEN and its affiliate Axens will provide the technology for the synthesis; EDF will turn the CO2 into e-kerosene, a synthetic sustainable aviation fuel (e-SAF). As a partner, Air France-KLM will be the main buyer of the e-kerosene produced by this new industrial activity.

Cambodia's annual cement production capacity, currently at about 8.9 million tonnes, is poised to receive a major boost after the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) greenlit Dongfang Junma Cement Co Ltd’s US$95 million proposal for a new factory in western Battambang province near the border with Pailin.
The government has increased the CESS levied on imported cement with effect from 17th June.
