AKKERMANN Cement Holding Launches Two Terminals in Nizhny Novgorod and Kirov

AKKERMANN launched new cement terminals in the European part of Russia — in Nizhny Novgorod and Kirov. The production capacities of each terminal allow shipping over 50,000 tons of cement per year.

The terminals launched during the last month. The terminal in Nizhny Novgorod is equipped with four silos with a total capacity of 3000 tons. It operates on Okskaya Gavan Street. The access railway allows housing six wagons. Loading and paperwork take not more than 30 minutes altogether, AKKERMAN states. The terminal provides products of both the SUMC plant (South Ural Mining Processing Company) [rus.: YuUGPK] and Gornozavodskcement plants.

The terminal in Kirov has three silos with a total capacity of 2,000 tons with an indoor warehouse for bagged cement storage. It is planned to construct additional silos in the near future.

Now AKKERMANN includes its own cement terminal in Moscow and long-term leased terminals in Kazan, Samara, Tyumen, Yekaterinburg, Ufa, Orenburg and other cities. The terminal network works serves the needs of both AKKERMAN's cement plants, and is used in places where the holding has intersections in sales and logistics.

“We believe that our market is the local market. Terminals are our strategy. Growing further is part of our strategy. We want AKKERMANN cement to lead in quality and efficiency in logistics,” said Chairman of the Board of Directors of YuUGPK in Anton Selyavko in a June interview with Cement and Its Applications.

Selyavko also explained that Kirov terminal is important since the region has historically been the key market for Gornozavodskcement.
