Belarus Reports 10.5 % Cement Production Growth in Q1 2020

Cement enterprises of the Republic of Belarus produced 928,000 tons of cement in Q1 2020 (+ 10.5 % YoY). Production volume in March alone grew 10 % YoY with 413,700 tons of cement produced, according to the National Statistical Committee of the Republic of Belarus (Belstat). March 2020 was the best March for the last five years, scoring a production growth of 35.4 % MoM. February of 2020 showed the best production volume over the past decade with 305,500 tons of cement.

The cement industry of Belarus is represented by three integrated cement plants: Krasnoselskstroymaterialy (Grodno region), Belarusian Cement Plant and KRICHEVTSEMENTOSHIFER (Mogilev region). All three enterprises are part of the state-owned Belarusian Cement Company.

Cement plants of the republic produced 4.7 million tons of cement in 2019. As per the annual financial statements, all plants showed an increase in revenue and a significant reduction in losses. The republic enforced a compulsory licensing procedure for Portland cement imported from outside the EAEU.
