CaspiCement Plant Can Cut Energy Costs by About $84,000 Yearly

Based on the results of an energy audit at the HeibelbergCement’s Kazakh plant "CaspiCement" a list of energy saving measures was developed. Their implementation will allow the plant to reduce energy cost (including fuel) by 34.5 million tenge per year ($83,360 at the exchange rate as of 23.07.2020). The audit was carried out by specialists from the Energy Efficiency Expertise Center of the GCE group of companies.

The audit was performed in accordance with the requirements of the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated January 13, 2012 ("On energy saving and energy efficiency") and the rules for conducting an energy audit.

Among the measures developed by GCE specialists are reactive power compensation, installation of automated heat supply stations, thermal insulation of equipment, and the use of hot air from the compressor cooling system (instead of heat guns) in order to heat the airslides.

This is not the first HeidelbergCement’s plant where GCE specialists worked. In 2017, an energy audit was carried out at the Cesla plant in the town of Slantsy, Leningrad Region, Russia. A list of 12 measures was developed for the enterprise to improve energy efficiency, which would reduce energy costs by 6.4 %. In 2019, GCE developed measures for the plant in Sterlitamak (HeidelbergCement Rus), allowing the enterprise to reduce costs by 7.2 %.
