The volume of cement consumption in Brazil in the first two months of 2021 amounted to 9.69 million tons, which is 11.4 % more than in January-February 2020 as reported by the National Cement Industry Union of Brazil. The total volume of cement production by Brazilian enterprises in January-February increased by 11.8 % and amounted to 9.74 million tons.
The volume of cement production in February 2021 amounted to 4.71 million tons and increased compared to February last year by 14 %.
Less than 1 % of all cement produced in two months of 2021 was exported — 58,000 tons. The volume of exports increased by 2.3 times compared to January-February 2020.
At the end of 2020, the volume of cement production by Brazilian enterprises increased by 10.9 % compared to 2019 and amounted to 60.79 million tons.
The cement industry in Brazil is represented by 62 full cycle cement plants and 36 grinding plants. The total design capacity of the enterprises is around 85 million tons of cement per year.
