CEMEX Reported Cement Production Growth in 2020

The largest Mexican manufacturer of building materials, CEMEX, reported 2020 results. In 2020 the holding's enterprises produced 63.81 million tons of cement (up by 2 % YoY), 47.03 million m3 of ready-mixed concrete (down by 6 % YoY) and 132.79 million tons of aggregates (down by 3 % YoY).

Net sales for the same period decreased by 1 % to US$ 12.97 billion. Only the US (6 %) and MEA (7 %) regions showed growth in net sales proceeds.

Quarterly EBITDA grew 16 % YoY, up to US$ 644 million. Annual EBITDA rose 3 %, up to US$ 2.46 billion.

Regional market highlights for 2020:

Mexico's net sales declined 3 % to US$ 2.82 billion. EBITDA fell 4 % to US$ 931 million.

In the United States, CEMEX had net sales of US$ 3.99 billion, 6 % up YoY. EBITDA rose 19 % to US$ 747 million.

In Europe, MEA and Asia, net sales remained flat in 2019 at US$ 4.42 billion. EBITDA also remained at the level of the previous year at US$ 630 million.

In South, Central America and the Caribbean, net sales declined 13 %, down to US$ 1.46 billion. EBITDA fell 3 %, to US$ 372 million.
