Russia's CEMROS has issued 498,767 carbon credits under the first registered climate project in the Russian cement industry, following verification of emissions reductions achieved between 2023 and 2025.
The project, implemented at the Serebryansky Cement Plant, is based on switching from coal to natural gas and is expected to reduce CO₂ emissions by approximately 1.8 Mt over 10 years. The issuance of carbon credits enables CEMROS to participate in Russia's emerging carbon market.
The company said decarbonisation remains a strategic priority, with ongoing investments in plant modernisation, energy efficiency and other initiatives aimed at reducing the carbon footprint of cement production.
