Chinese Investors to Build Another Cement Plant in Uzbekistan

The government of the Namangan province of the Republic of Uzbekistan signed a $108 million investment agreement with the Chinese investor Xingda Group and a local businesswoman — Gulbahor Abdullaeva — on the construction of a cement plant in the Chust district. The plant is up for commissioning in the summer of 2021.

The Chinese Xingda Group, a major polystyrene producer, intends to build a 1.3 million tpa cement plant in Chust. The plant is going to produce high-quality M-600 cement. At its full capacity, the enterprise will provide 180 jobs. Local authorities believe the new Chust plant will make it possible to replace $50 million worth of imported cement a year, and satisfy the local market demand.

The plant of the local company Yuksalish-Ta'mir Invest is now operating in the Namangan region. The enterprise produces alumina, slag, and hydraulic cement.

A plant of the Namangan Jinmingyang building materials company will be launched by the end of 2020 in the Yangikurgan district. The construction costs amount to $105 million dollars with over 90% of the sum paid by the Chinese company Hebei Yijia Cheng Trading.
