Georgia Increased Cement Imports in 8M 2020 by 13.4 % YoY

In January-August 2020, Georgia imported 472,600 tons of cement, which is 13.4 % more than in January-August 2019. Its import value increased by 5 % YoY and amounted to US$ 24.5 million. The volume of cement import in August increased by 21.5 % YoY and amounted to 76,300 tons. The value of imports in August increased by 14.9 % YoY and amounted to US$ 3.8 million. The main exporters were Azerbaijan and Turkey.

The volume of cement imports from Turkey in 8M 2020 increased by 2.8 times, amounting to 233,000 tons. At the same time, the cost of imports increased by 3.2 times, up to US$ 12.5 million.

The volume of cement imports from Azerbaijan decreased by 29.7 % YoY and amounted to 212,600 tons. Import value fell by 22.8 % YoY, down to US$ 10.6 million.
