HBM Nigeria to expand cement capacity by 5.5 Mta

HBM Nigeria is planning a massive capacity expansion in Nigeria after Lafarge Africa PLC came under the control of Huaxin Building Materials Group.

In the coming years, the company intends to expand cement capacity by 5.5 Mta. HBM Nigeria currently operates four plants — in Mfamosing, Ewekoro, Ashaka and Sagamu — with a combined cement capacity of 10.5 Mta.

Another kiln line is planned at the Ashaka plant. It will more than double kiln capacity and expand the plant’s cement capacity to 3.0 Mta.

In addition, the company plans to build a 3.5 Mta integrated cement plant at the Sagamu mortar production plant. The new kiln capacity will amount to about 2.5 Mta.

The projects are expected to be completed in 2027 and 2028.
