Holcim Romania, together with its partner Carmeuse, will receive a grant from the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency for the implementation of the CPT01 carbon hub project. Additional support for the initiative is provided by the Innovation Fund.
The project marks a groundbreaking effort in carbon capture and storage (CCS) in Romania and will be implemented in the Câmpulung industrial area.
As part of the initiative, CCS technologies are planned to be deployed at the Holcim cement plant and the Carmeuse lime plant. This will enable the annual production of approximately 2 million tonnes of cement and 200,000 tonnes of lime with nearly zero CO2 emissions.
