Iskitimcement Puts New Laboratory Equipment Into Operation

Iskitimcement plant in the Novosibirsk Region purchased 21 million rubles worth of laboratory equipment from the Swiss company Thermo Fisher Scientific and put it into operation. The plant purchased an X-ray fluorescence spectrometer and an X-ray diffractometer, designed for phase analysis of raw materials, clinker and cement.

ARL™ OPTIM'X 200W X-ray fluorescence spectrometer is designed to perform a 24/7 on-line analysis of raw mix (sludge) and clinker. The spectrometer will help lab assistants determine the full chemical composition of the raw material mixture, its concentration of light elements, as well as contents of fluorine (F), potassium (K) and sodium (Na) with just a single portion. The device allows you to analyze ten samples at a time.

The X-ray diffractometer (ARL™ EQUINOX 1000) allows for accurate and reliable monitoring of the phase composition of clinker and its free calcium oxide contents, as well as control of the mineral composition of raw materials in the quarry and control of incoming corrective and mineral additives.

Updating the laboratory is necessary to optimize fixed costs and the technological process management, while maintaining the level of product quality.

“We are constantly investing in updating production and laboratory equipment,” says CEO of Iskitimcement Vladimir Skakun. “With the introduction of new modern devices, our laboratory division had the samples processing time significantly reduced. The lab now provides feedback much faster, allowing for quick re-adjustments of the technological process.”

Iskitimcement is one of the largest producers of building cement in Siberia. In 2019, the company produced about 1 million tons of products.
