Kazakhstan Increased Cement Exports in 2020

In 2020, the volume of export of cement products from Kazakhstan increased by 18.4 % YoY, to 1.99 million tons. The export value for the same period also increased by 18.7 % and amounted to US$ 100.4 million. The main importers of cement from the Republic of Kazakhstan are Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia.

In 2020, Uzbekistan imported 1.30 million tons of cement from Kazakhstan, which is 22.3 % more than in 2019. The cost of imports increased by 26.3 %, up to US$ 67.4 million.

In 2020, Kyrgyzstan imported 420,000 tons of cement from Kazakhstan, which is 15.4 % more than in 2019. The cost of imports increased by 15.7 %, up to US$ 18.5 million.

In 2020, Russia imported 274,100 tons of cement from Kazakhstan, which is 7.6 % more than in 2019. Import value fell 1.8 %, down to US$ 14.5 million.

Cement production in Kazakhstan in 2020 increased by 5.3 %.

The cement industry of the republic is represented by 17 integrated enterprises. At the end of last year, a plant with a capacity of 1 million tons per year was commissioned in the Shieli district of the Kyzylorda region in the south-west of the country. The investor was a Chinese company.
