Kuvasaycement Plant Switches to Coal

A coal grinding facility is underway at Kuvasaycement plant in the Ferghana region of Uzbekistan. The Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan recommends the economical use of natural gas, and switching to coal turned out to be the most cost-effective solution for Kuvasaycement. Coal mills will be set up once the repair campaign is over to produce pulverized coal to fuel the production lines. The Kyrgyz companies will supply coal to Kuvasaycement.

New burners of Austrian ‘Unitherm Cemcon’ can burn both natural gas and ground coal, and will be responsible for the process at Kuvasaycement. One Unitherm burner unit has already arrived at the plant.

The final stage of the repair campaign finalizes at Kuvasaycement with the replacement of the filters on three cement mills. Three rotary kilns and one cement mill have already been fully repaired, including a major overhaul of shells and support rollers.

Kuvasaycement’s plans for the near future also include replacing the existing electrostatic precipitators in three of the six cement mills with hose fabric filters of the Russian company Albokos.

Kuvasaycement has a design capacity of 1 million tpa with four production lines. The plant continues its operations under the quarantine, including product dispatch and delivery.

Albokos was founded in 2001 as a joint venture with ALBARRIE Canada. Albokos specializes in the production of bag filters, filter sleeves and frames, as well as the restoration and modernization of bag filters and electrostatic precipitators.
