In 2020, Latvia exported 913,800 tons of cement, which is 6.8 % more than in 2019. Sweden, Estonia and Belarus were the main importers. In 2021, the export volume of Latvian cement products is planned to be increased through the modernization of the country's cement production.
The value of exported cement increased by 10.6 % compared to 2019 and amounted to EUR 49.5 million.
Almost 30 % of the total volume was exported to Sweden – 301,500 tons of cement worth EUR 14.6 million. 226,400 tons of cement worth EUR 13.1 million euros were delivered to Estonia, and 41,500 tons worth EUR 2.2 million — to Belarus.
The volume of imports increased by 6.3 % YoY, up to 181,000 tons, and its value increased to EUR 11.8 million (by 0.8 % YoY).
Earlier it became known about an investment project for the modernization of the Schwenk’s Broceni cement plant in Latvia. Its implementation will allow the company to expand the range of produced cement with more environmentally friendly types and enter new export markets.
