Sibcem’s Transport Company Increased Transportation Volume by 10 % in 2020

In 2020, KuzbassTransCement, a Sibcem’s transport company in charge of operating the holding's railway fleet, transported about 5.5 million tons of cargo (up by 10 % YoY), including 3.2 million tons of cement (up by 7 % YoY).

Today KuzbassTransCement’s fleet includes 2,144 hopper wagons, 1,745 semi-covered and 400 covered wagons, 90 dump cars. Last year, the rolling stock of the company provided the delivery of the holding's products by rail to consumers in the Siberian, Far Eastern, and Ural federal districts. The geography of transportation destinations also included the European part of Russia and Kazakhstan.

“In 2020, the amount of the holding's cargo — ready-made construction materials and goods needed by factories for production purposes — remained at the level of 2019. But the volume of "third-party" traffic increased by 26 %. This growth was achieved due to a new direction of work — transportation of crushed metallurgical slag, which our hopper wagons delivered from the Urals to various cities of Russia, — explains Alexander Chagaev, Managing Director of KuzbassTransCement. — In addition, last year we actively transported sand for glass factories, minerals from the territory of Kazakhstan, rapeseed and flaxseed crops intended for export to China.”

KuzbassTransCement" has been part of Sibcem since 2006. In 2012, a single transport and logistics center of the holding was created on the basis of the enterprise. Currently, the company ensures the strategic independence of the sales activities of Sibcem from such factors as the price of transport services, and rolling stock availability.
